Wishes May Wait

I walk slowly

Through the wishes

That have fallen from my lips.

Docile dreams

That never found their way

To reality.

Sordid affairs blend

With adolescent fantasy

The pathways aren’t as clear.

You’re here, however

Wearing desire like a t-shirt

And laughing at some joke

Humor blends to stupor

As I try comprehend

My original request of the heavens.

I bend and stack

Wishes in piles of priority.

Hopefully the courier will arrive.

I will wait here

In the only empty corner

Praying I will touch more than your heart.
